Enrichment - Grade 9+: Purple Comet Contest Prep Class✳(春季学期)【New】
Welcome to OCS Purple Comet International Online Math Contest class!
Purple Comet International online Math Meet is a prestigious free, annual, international, online, team, math contest designed for middle school and high school students since 2003. Each team competing needs an adult supervisor who registers and signs up teams to participate in the contest. Each team may have as many as six students. each team member will receive a certificate from the contest committee. If the team achieves a high score, then an additional certificate will be issued.
Recently math teacher Dr. Hao reached out to the two major organizers Dr. Titu Andreescu, former US Math Olympiad Head Coach, and Dr. Jonathan Kane, Math professor at Univ. of Wisconsin. In 2025, our High School Team won 1st place in Ohio, 21st place nationwide, and 62nd place worldwide in the Mixed High School Division. Our Middle School Team also excelled in the competition, claming 1st place in Ohio, 94th place nationwide, and 168th place worldwide in the Mixed Middle School Division.
OCS high school and middle school teams will be taking the incoming Purple Comet! Math Meet on 4/19/2026 at the school location.
Middle schoolers have 20 problems within 60 minutes, and high schoolers have 30 problems within 90 minutes.
Registration for Purple Comet Class
To participate in the Purple Comet class for high schoolers, students must register on the OCS registration site as soon as possible. Please note the following:
- Limited spots available: Priority will be given to current OCS students and volunteers.
- Registration required: Students must register before the class starts.
- No try-outs: Registration is mandatory, and no try-outs will be allowed.
- Tuition: The class fee is $250 for 10 sessions. Paid in full at registration.
- Benefit and discount for current OCS students/volunteers: A $100 special discount will be applied up to the 1st day of Spring Semester.
- No refunds: No withdrawals or refunds will be allowed after registered.
By registering, students acknowledge they have read and understood these terms.
The class will be starting on 2/1, 2/8, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19.
